Three Thoughts:

My Capstone would be on … the evolution of Black hairstyles during The Great Migration era. My family is from the American South, so understanding how urban Black communities grew to differ from rural Southern ones is very interesting to me!

Three words that describe my work style are … collaborative, engaging, and joyful!

If I could invite any three people (living or deceased) to dinner, I would invite … Ida B. Wells, Maria Tallchief, and Shirley Chisholm! Each of these women were at the top of their craft during their lifetimes. I look up to each of them in various ways. As a teacher, Ida’s commitment to investigative journalism and sharing stories of those most marginalized is something I look up to. Maria’s groundbreaking impact in the ballet world proves to us that art is for everyone even when the world says you may not belong. Finally, Shirley shows us that we can all become a beacon of change.
