Seventh Grade French Students Educate on Climate Change
Following a short unit on weather vocabulary, seventh grade French students learned about various initiatives that can positively impact the effects and course of climate change. In a season marred by cancellations and uneven match-ups, the fencing team finally faced a full team on Thursday afternoon when they squared off against Shady Hill at the Boston Fencing Club. When it was all said and done, the Blue & Gold took 15 of 27 bouts and emerged with a narrow 15-12 victory.
Seventh Graders Research Human Traits
In seventh grade science, we are learning what factors give rise to human traits. To investigate this, students identified a trait of interest. The boys’ JV basketball team had a flair for the dramatic this week with a pair of one-point wins at home against Shady Hill and Dedham Country Day. In back-to-back games, the Blue & Gold trailed by one point with under 30 seconds to play before receiving game-winning shots from Nebiyou Elias and Rhys Kaplan.
Seventh grade standout Alexandra Kadnar scored a game-high 16 points in girls’ JV basketball’s season opener against Rashi this week. After trailing 18-10 in the second half, the Blue & Gold battled back before eventually losing 27-24 after a last-second three-point attempt came up short.
Sixth Grade Sparks Hope for the New Year
Continuing a tradition started 15 years ago by Ms. Moriarty and Mr. Spencer, sixth grade students and their teachers gathered Wednesday morning to say a fiery goodbye to things from the past year we want to leave behind, each symbolically burning our own personal lists. Mistakes, regrets, annoyances, bad habits all went into the fire.
Betel Zewude’s stellar serving led the Gold squad to a definitive 2-0 win over White in volleyball’s first intramural contest this winter. Kesariya Nallari-Jhala chipped in with great touches for the victors, while Eike Kiecza led the White squad with strong play at the net.
Despite the two-week pause on interscholastic competition, the Blue & Gold fencing team took to the strips this Thursday and squared off against each other in an intramural meet. Under the direction of Coach Solomon, the team competed in all three weapons.
Our 2021-22 cohort of eight associate teachers have excelled during their classroom placements through the first part of the school year. As we return from winter break and begin the winter and spring portion of the school year, each associate will move to a second placement. Associates will stay in these placements with
