Teachers Attend Responsive Classroom Elementary Core Course

August 9, 2024

First grade teacher Geoffrey Fox, second grade teacher Katie O’Brien, and fourth grade teacher Emily Crawford attended the Responsive Classroom Elementary Core Course at Burlington High School.

This national program trains teachers on strategies for creating a positive community, ensuring engaging academics, effectively managing their class, and responding to their children’s developmental needs. Our team reports that they loved the program’s core belief that students need to be explicitly taught both social/emotional and academic competencies to be successful.

The three lower school teachers are excited to officially be Responsive Classroom Certified. They can’t wait to implement several new ideas this coming school year, like fun learning activities during morning meetings and the power of academic choice.
