Three Thoughts:

My Capstone Project would be… MBTA Subway Art: What Moves You? I live near Davis Square, and I used to take the subway to work everyday. One day I noticed that I was standing on a poem and that there were different poems printed all over the platform floor. I was also looking at the tiles on the walls of the T stop that were created by area elementary students in the ’70s, and realized that one of the student artists was a former colleague. I’d like to learn more about the art in different stations, and if I were in Eighth Grade I would welcome the excuse to explore the city and perhaps photograph some of the art in the T stations as a Capstone Project.

My favorite children’s book is… probably From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg, because I identify with Claudia’s persistence in conducting research in order to solve a mystery. I also love that Konigsburg got the idea for the story from a newspaper article about the Met purchasing a potentially priceless statue for $225.

Someone I admire is… Barbara Gordon (a.k.a. Batgirl) because what’s better than a crime-fighting librarian?
